I've been wondering for a while what the mage stat requirements are for raiding, and I came up with this: 6000 +HP 9000+ Mana 500+ Bonus Damage 30+ Spell Hit Rating 30+ Spell Penetration 15% Spell Crit Chance Am I close? Or am I just way too dumb to be a mage?

Or am I just way too dumb to be a mage? Spell Penetration is almost useless as a mage. Spell Hit is nice, but there's a nasty resist chance of around 3% you can't get rid of with 100% hit. 15% Spell Crit makes me laugh, a lot. You want atleast 20%, and that's assuming some greens. So to raid 24-ish or higher, especially as fire.

Isn't that bonus damage a bit low as well?

weL on valant I have a 19.5% chance to crit which honestly is all you really need as a full frost spec mage. my hit rateing is like 65 and my +frost is 780.....
The +crit all depends on your spec

Running Scarlet Monastery as a level 70 warlock, against level 38-42 elites, with +15% hit, I had a 3% resist. Does this mean that level 38-42 elites in SM just have a higher resist rate? Or perhaps it differs class to class? Or perhaps it's the whole "instant DOT" effect? Or an extremely bad run of luck over about ten thousand spells? I used swstats to test it, and was leveling up my alt so it was a two way thing ^^ Edit: I now see why Midnight spoke so highly of you, you like to correct people as much as he does :O

Isn't that bonus damage a bit low as well? -Lost 500 BD does seem low, 600+?

at least 800ish spell damage if you're not MM 20%+ spellcrit, varies with spec... 0-170ish spell hit for boss level mobs (depends how often you want to avoid resists, need up to 16%)
